The Archer
A downloadable game
The Archer is the culmination of developing skills in programming and game design and development in game design course IAT 167.
Made in Processing, The Archer uses minim for audio and controlP5 for UI elements. There are ~3300 lines of code and ~200 assets.
Notable aspects of the programming:
- Enemy projectiles use projectile motion physics.
- Method creates an outline that is overlayed on interactable objects when you approach them.
- Seamless game state switching.
I wanted to focus on the experience and immersion of the gameplay. I followed the sensation and discovery aspects of the Eight Kinds of Fun outlined by renowned game designer Marc LeBlanc.
This led me to focus on creating unique environments, visual feedback systems, and simple gameplay mechanics to aid in the overall experience.
